Open the refrigerator and look for its rating label. Whirlpool identifies the ceiling, inside walls, door frame and kickplate among possible label locations. Photograph the label so letters and numbers remain readable.
Keep the manufacturer model code separate from the serial number. The initial catalogue includes GNE27JYMFS and GFE26JYMFS for GE, plus WRS325SDHZ, WRS571CIHZ, WRS315SDHM and WRF535SWHZ for Whirlpool. Search the complete code printed on your label.
If the label includes additional revision digits, retain them. A model that is not explicitly listed needs a manufacturer check; removing a suffix is not a way to approve a fit.
The code on your old cartridge is another useful starting point. GE XWFE and the Everydrop references EDR1RXD1 and EDR4RXD1 identify different cartridge families. A filter number is not the refrigerator model.
Search either code on this site and open the relevant model record. Its source links show where the manufacturer specifies the filter. Compare the model label and cartridge before following the Amazon buying action.
